4C Mailboxes
| 4C Mailboxes, and all of the 4C Commercial Mailbox systems, meet the latest USPS Standards
for accessibility by postal carriers. As of October 2006, the 4C Mailbox system is
required for all new construction and major renovations using centralized
USPS mail delivery. 4C Horizontal Mailbox modules are designed to accept a postal lock -- supplied by the local Post Office -- which gives the carrier access for delivery. For rear loading modules, the postal lock is on the rear door.
For USPS installation compliance, the
distance from the finished floor to the top row of locks on 4C Mailboxes must not exceed 67"
and the distance from the finished floor to the lower tenant compartment
floor must be at least 28". If the lower compartments are 4C Mailbox parcel lockers,
this dimension can be as small as 15”. For Front Load 4C Mailbox configurations, the
carrier accesses the mail compartments by unlocking the postal control lock and
then opening the large frame. For Rear Load 4C Mailbox configurations,
